January is typically a quieter time of year for real estate, as people digest the holidays, pay bills and think about the year ahead. With so much pent-up buyer demand however, the Ottawa market kicked into high gear early this year.

As you’ll see in the sales snapshot, Ottawa Real Estate Board statistics show substantial increases in both condo and freehold property sales. This, even with the second lockdown and a Stay-At-Home order taking effect mid-January.

When the Stay-At-Home order is lifted by the province, the data suggests a backlog of anxious would-be buyers may continue to drive strong sales. Selling and buying in these market conditions is stressful for everyone, but it can be achieved with determination, preparation and a strong strategy.
